Clinical Response: Driven primarily by the Clinical Response Committee, clinical issues addressed include:
Collaborate: UCCOP has current and active collaborations in place with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology on maternal health and the prevention of mortality as well as the Brain Injury Association of America to increase awareness about brain injury and seeking treatment. UCCOP has also had a longstanding relationship with the Antibiotic Resistance Action Center at George Washington University.
Research: UCCOP recently conducted an IRB approved study on practitioner comfort levels with standard competencies needed in Urgent Care medicine. This research was made possible via a grant from the Urgent Care Foundation. These findings will be published and used to design future educational opportunities.
Fellowship: UCCOP is working with educational and healthcare institutions across the country to develop post-graduate fellowship programs for physicians.
Clinical Consortium: UCCOP coordinates an annual in-person meeting with the Clinical Consortium group, followed by 3 virtual meetings to determine and address relevant clinical issues in Urgent Care medicine. The 2024 meeting took place July 27-29 in Miami, FL. Several initiatives emerged as a result of that meeting, including the development of national quality standards in Urgent Care medicine. Activities toward achieving that objective will continue over the next 12 months.
